Louis Vuitton is pushing luxury beauty deeper into collectible territory with two limited-edition LV Ombres Monogram Eyeshadow Palettes, each priced at $340. Created as part of the first La Beauté Louis Vuitton collaboration between artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière and cosmetics creative director Dame Pat McGrath, the four-pan palettes celebrate the 130th anniversary of the house’s signature monogram.
Monogram Dune pairs luminous desert-inspired neutrals, while Monogram Infrarouge takes a moodier approach with mauve, berry and sparkling charcoal shades. Unlike the permanent LV Ombres compacts, these editions are wrapped in Louis Vuitton’s Monogram coated canvas, with colorways coordinated to other beauty accessories in the collection.
At $85 per shade, the launch positions makeup as much as a collectible luxury object as a functional cosmetic, showing how fashion houses can extend craftsmanship and scarcity into increasingly elevated beauty formats.

Why This Trend Is Growing
- Collectible Beauty Objects
- Luxury cosmetics are increasingly framed as display-worthy possessions, creating room for limited drops that blend personal use with status-driven collecting.
- Monogrammed Makeup Packaging
- Heritage branding on cosmetic cases turns packaging into a signature asset, expanding value beyond formulas into recognizable design language.
- Fashion-led Beauty Scarcity
- Limited-edition beauty collaborations from fashion houses are reshaping makeup as a high-margin category tied to exclusivity, craftsmanship, and cultural cachet.
Industries Being Reshaped
- Luxury Fashion
- Prestige houses are extending iconic codes into adjacent categories, making beauty a vehicle for deeper brand engagement and collectible product ecosystems.
- Premium Cosmetics
- High-end makeup is moving toward elevated materials and scarcity models, opening space for products that compete as lifestyle artifacts as much as cosmetics.
- Beauty Retail
- Retail experiences around luxury makeup can emphasize rarity, storytelling, and accessory coordination, supporting higher perceived value and differentiated merchandising.
