Mass market car makers still keep grinding out supercars and independent car makers are rushing to keep up. The latest is the Hulme CanAm from New Zealand. The Hulme made its first track debut as an open top version.
Blasting down the track pushed by a Corvette 600 hp engine, the Hulme CanAm will come to market at $700,000. A more powerful engine will come later with an even higher price tag.
Implications - Despite the recent downturn in the economy, there is still a market for ultra-luxury goods. A company can appeal to this specific consumer desire by trumpeting a product's opulence and social status.
