L'Oréal Luxe and DATALAND Converge Visual Art and Responsive Scents

L'Oréal Luxe and DATALAND, a first-of-its-kind omni-sensory Museum of AI Arts, collaborated to enhance the museum's inaugural exhibition—Machine Dreams: Rainforest—with a dozen rainforest-inspired scents that diffuse in response to the artworks and each visitor's presence.

As DATALAND's exclusive founding olfactory partner, L'Oréal Luxe crafted "living scents" with Refik Anadol Studio and its Large Nature Model. Scent of Data, one of the 12 scents, blends clean musks and aldehydes to "replicate the algorithmic pulsation of code, scenting the 'mind' of the machine," while Scent of Rain offers a hyper-realistic interpretation of humid earth after rain with a petrichor accord and earthy patchouli. As guests experience Machine Dreams: Rainforest, scents like these, and more, are released through DATALAND's innovative smart-diffuser devices for a world-first fusion of visual art and responsive olfactory.

Responsive Olfactory Art
A growing shift toward scents that adapt in real time to visual inputs and human presence enables immersive narratives where aroma becomes a data-driven layer of artistic expression.
AI-generated Living Scents
Generative scent models trained on natural and synthetic accords are producing novel, reproducible fragrances that translate datasets and concepts into olfactory signatures.
Smart-diffuser Ecosystems
Networked, sensor-linked diffuser systems allow spatially and temporally controlled scent delivery that can create personalized ambient environments across physical venues.
