In an effort to draw in Superbowl viewers, Olive Garden has released its Loaded Pasta Chips. This hearty game-day dish substitutes corn chips with fried pieces of lasagna noodles and is topped with a myriad of Italian inspired ingredients. The toppings include mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, a three-meat Italian tomato sauce featuring chicken, meatballs and sausage, spicy cherry pepper, a drizzle of Alfredo sauce and a garnish of Pecorino Romano, Parmesan, and fresh parsley.
The Loaded Pasta Chips will be available until April 2018 and are set to appear on menus at Olive Garden locations across the US. This dish, while quite tasty, comes as a bit of a surprise as it diverts quite heavily from Olive Garden's recent 'back to basics' approach. However, this divergence makes sense as the Italian food chain looks to attract Superbowl fans looking for a large and shareable meal.
