KaraoQ is an innovative new karaoke app, launched in Nashville, that is designed to help the karaoke experience catch up with the times.
Available for free download on Apple and Android smartphones, the KaraoQ app allows visitors to karaoke bars to rate other patrons, pay an extra fee to jump to the front of the karaoke queue and, perhaps most importantly, enjoy the ability to select songs from an exceptionally vast song list that sits on a cloud -- a stark upgrade to narrow playlists that are common in most karaoke bars. The karaoke app is monetized in a number of ways -- KaraoQ keeps 25 per cent of queue-jumping fees and DJ tips, and also welcomes sponsorships and targeted ads.
The service is already in use in about two dozen bars in the Nashville area. It's a supremely intelligent service that makes use of modern technological platforms to enrich and monetize karaoke, without taking away the charm of the experience itself.
