iClassifier is Launching a New Artificial Intelligence System for Cattle

Edmonton-based company iClassifier is launching its new service, which aims to streamline cattle care and flag potential injuries.

Founded in 2021 with the goal of integrating artificial intelligence into the agricultural sector, iClassifier employs advanced imaging and video analysis to monitor cattle. This innovative approach leverages AI to enhance the precision and reliability of herd management.

iClassifier's technology can be accessed via a farmer's smartphone or through an automated assessment machine. This machine, a specially designed stall equipped with high-tech cameras and imaging devices, utilizes a proprietary AI algorithm to process the collected data. The company hopes to detect lameness at an early stage to help ensure adequate milk production for dairy farms.

“We are trying to find lameness and lameness indicators at an earlier stage,” mechanical engineering student Emran Hamzehnezhadabkenari said. “If you detect lameness at an earlier stage, some steps can be taken and … the animal can be treated."
