'Husmates' is a Canadian startup founded by Lesli Gaynor and Parimal Gosai in 2021. The two entrepreneurs founded Husmates as a response to the current housing market in Canada. While many Canadians rent homes and are unable to purchase a home due to the sky-high housing costs, many Canadians would still prefer to own a home if they could.
Husmates intends to help these aspiring homeowners by matching them with aspiring homeowners of similar interests for the purpose of co-owning. The application has launched online in beta form, and it is available for users to register. The user interface of the application is reminiscent of dating apps. It provides a feed of individuals that closely match up to the user. Each person that shows up in the feed is accompanied by a biography that shows important information such as age, number of kids, number of pets, and job. Additionally, the profiles have supplementary information such as interests, gender, and a short biography.
