Kathy Rosario Captures the Natural Water Birth of Her Friend

It's not every day that a person is able to witness a home birth, let alone a natural one taking place in water. But when photographer Kathy Rosario learned that one of her good friends was delivering her third child this way, she knew she had to document the experience not only for the mother, but her audience as well.

Much more calm and collected than one would expect, the home birth looked to be self-directed with a mid-wife simply overseeing the event. Of course, there was probably a lot more happening behind the scenes, but seeing the mother catch her own baby is a powerful image. Perhaps this series will inspire more women to have home births themselves.
