Uber is Offering Free Rides in a $1 Million Mclaren P1

Uber is teaming up with National Geographic to bring high-speed taxi rides to New York City. To promote its new show, 'Breakthrough,' National Geographic has brought a fleet of hybrid, electric and alternative fuel vehicles to offer free rides in the city.

One of these vehicles is the powerful McLaren P1, one of the rarest cars in the world. To get a chance to get a high-speed taxi ride, Uber users are asked to type in the promo code "BREAKTHROUGH," to earn a chance to get picked up in a speedy, hybrid car.

Other cars that will be rolled out during the promotional event include the Tesla Model S, BMW i8 and a Porsche Cayenne. Breakthrough is a celebration of real-time scientific discovery, and this stunt uses some of the most innovative vehicles to showcase these technologies.
