Inclusive Hair Search Tools

Pinterest Introduces a Hair Pattern Search Feature

Pinterest, an image-sharing platform, is rolling out a hair pattern search feature. Inspired by Black, Brown, and Latinx Pinners, the new search tool makes searching for hairstyles easier and more customizable. Pinterest is committed to creating an inclusive environment for its users.

The new tool marks a racial equity milestone in the world of coding, as Editorial Hair Stylist and Global Artistic Director of Amika, Naeemah LaFond, explains. A first of its kind, the technology empowers users by allowing them to search through diverse hairstyling inspirations across all hair types.

Pinterest users can search for six different hair patterns through the new tool. Protective, coiled, curly, wavy, straight, and shaved/bald styles are easily accessible. The new feature will roll out internationally over the coming months.
