These New Gushers Fruit Snacks Embrace Sour and Swicy Notes

— May 10, 2026 — Lifestyle
These new Gushers fruit snacks have been announced by General Mills as a series of extremely flavored snack products perfect for satisfying demand for unexpected taste experiences.

The products include the Gushers Super Sour alongside the Gushers Sweet & Fiery, which both follow on the popularity of both sour and sweet and spicy (AKA swicy) taste experiences. The Gushers Super Sour have Blueberry Grape, Mixed Berry and Raspberry Lemonade flavors in the mix, while the Gushers Sweet & Fiery features Hot Mango and Spicy Watermelon.

Business Unit Director for Fruit Snacks at General Mills Ryan Eick commented on the new Gushers fruit snacks saying, "Gushers has always been about not taking ourselves too seriously and letting fans have fun with their snacks. We’re seeing people look for snacks they can experiment with, and they’re creating their own sweet, sour, and spicy mashups. With Gushers Super Sour and Sweet & Fiery, along with new options across our other fruit snacks brands, we’re giving them the bolder flavors they are looking for.”

Trend Themes

  1. Extreme Flavor Profiles — Intensely sour and swicy flavor profiles create room for novel formulations and textural systems that redefine consumer expectations for snack taste intensity.
  2. Hybrid Taste Combinations — Combining sweet, sour and spicy notes in single SKUs opens possibilities for multi-sensory products that blur traditional category lines between candy, fruit snacks and savory treats.
  3. Playful Snack Experimentation — A consumer desire for playful, experiment-driven snacking fosters opportunities for modular, customizable and limited-edition releases that shift purchasing toward novelty-driven behavior.

Industry Implications

  1. Confectionery and Snack Manufacturing — Manufacturers can capitalize on bolder flavor processing and novel encapsulation techniques to produce shelf-stable products delivering extreme taste experiences at scale.
  2. Flavoring and Ingredient Suppliers — Specialty ingredient providers are positioned to develop concentrated, stability-engineered sour, spicy and sweet compounds that enable new flavor combinations without compromising texture or shelf life.
  3. Marketing and Consumer Engagement Platforms — Brands and agencies focused on experiential marketing can leverage trend-driven, social-first campaigns and limited drops to accelerate trial and create viral demand for unconventional snack flavors.
