Contemporary Japanese brand A Bathing Ape extends itself to the Western world by acquiring "America's famous character, POPEYE" for a graphic streetwear capsule. The offerings boast modern silhouettes in a rich colorway and with engaging illustration that communicate the essence of the famous character.

The BAPE x POPEYE line of cartoon-inspired graphic streetwear can be divided into two subcategories, both of which pay tribute to the iconic character's affiliation with spinach as a source of power and his devotion to his long-term girlfriend Olive Oyl. On one hand, the illustrations have the bold aesthetic of the original cartoon. On the other hand, some of the images have been tweaked to better fit with the style of 'Baby Milo' — BAPE's imprint.
