These 'Got Your 6 Posters' Reveal the Identities of Army Veterans

This 'Got Your 6' Veteran's Day campaign aims to show the public and veterans themselves that ex-army personnel go beyond the stereotype.

The media tends to present a skewed perception of veterans. Images of veterans in films and TV often center around extreme depictions of PTSD and violence. Many people think of veterans and picture Vietnam vets of their grandparents' generation.

This new campaign by veteran public relations organization 'Got Your 6' showcases the many ways veterans contribute to their communities in life after military service. The campaign invites veterans to share two aspects of their identity as well as their veteran status with the hashtag "#IAm" on social media, a formula that also appears on the 'Got Your 6' posters. For example, one poster features a picture of U.S. Army veteran Bill, with the caption "I am a photojournalist, an artist, a veteran."
