Scottish Soda Dessert Glazes

The 'Glasgae Mess' is Made Using an Orange Scottish Soda

The Scottish are known for their vibrant nightlife and energetic whiskey tours, so it's no surprise that the 'Glasgae Mess,' the latest dessert concoction to come from the country, is made from a classic Scottish soda.

Irn-Bru is orange-colored carbonated beverage that's humorously referred to as the country's 'other' national drink. More recently, the Scottish soda was combined with meringues, to produce a vibrant glaze that puts a Glasgow twist, on a classic dessert offering.

The dessert was inspired by an Eton Mess -- a traditional English treat that mixes strawberries, meringues and a heavy whipped cream. This after-dinner favorite uses local Glasgow ingredients and is being served at the 200 SVS restaurant in Glasgow, Scotland.
