Oxygen-Activated Fragrance Technologies

Givaudan Scentaurus Aquamelon Releases Scent Over Time

Givaudan Scentaurus Aquamelon is an oxygen-activated fragrance innovation, the first precursor from Givaudan specifically created for hair care, that gradually releases molecules when exposed to natural triggers like light, humidity, and air. Created to prolong the scent experience over time, Scentaurus Aquamelon is described as a soft, fruity-floral scent that continues to deliver a sense of cleanliness and freshness for several days as it releases notes of green melon and orange blossom. “Consumer research across multiple markets reveals a consistent demand for more fragrance performance in hair care and it is no longer measured at rinse-off and drying but throughout the entire day," said Jeremy Compton, Global Head of Science and Technology, Fragrances at Givaudan.

Although initially inspired by personal care, the technology expanding Givaudan's fragrance precursor portfolio is also said to perform well in fabric care applications.

Oxygen-activated Fragrance
Triggered release systems extend scent longevity by responding to air, humidity, and light, creating new potential for personal care products with multi-day freshness cues.
Hair Care Scent Performance
Long-lasting fragrance is becoming a differentiator in shampoos, conditioners, and styling products as consumers associate sustained scent with cleanliness and product efficacy.
Cross-category Fragrance Precursors
Molecular precursor platforms originally designed for beauty applications can translate into fabric care and home care, broadening the value of controlled-release scent technologies.

Industries Being Reshaped
