U.K.-based supermarket chain Tesco has launched a new check-out-free store in London, England called GetGo. The new store has an accompanying app that allows users to purchase groceries, weigh them out, and automatically pay.
The new technology utilizes a combination of weight sensors and cameras to automatically determine the total price of a Tesco shopper's grocery load. Using the app, shoppers will even be able to check in to a store, grab groceries that they have ordered online, and walk out, all without engaging in the traditional check-out process.
Tesco hopes that the GetGo store will provide customers with a truly seamless shopping experience. “We are constantly looking for ways to improve the shopping experience, and our latest innovation offers a seamless checkout for customers on the go, helping them to save a bit more time," said Kevin Tindall, Managing Director of Tesco Convenience.
