There's always a generational gap between successive generations, but the advent of mobile technology has expanded the chasm between millennials and Gen Xers to unprecedented proportions. Even though the two generations are only about a decade apart, millennials are very different, largely due to their relationship with technology.
This infographic shows the ways in which technology and mobile technology in particular have contributed to widening the divide. For example, only 28% of Gen Xers state that their smartphone is a very valuable shopping tool when they're shopping in a physical store, but 56% of millennials say their phone is their most trusted shopping companion.
The importance of mobile apps and openness to mobile payment technology are just some of the mobile-influenced manifestations of the generational gap between millennials and Gen Xers
