PG Tips is reworking its Original black tea for UK tea drinkers with a fuller-tasting blend that lifted purchase intent and overall preference by 13 percentage points in testing. The range reaches UK retailers from autumn 2026 after research with more than 1,000 tea buyers put taste and quality at the center of value.
The tea bags move from 2.9g to 3.125g, giving each cup more tea while RRPs stay unchanged across pack sizes. Gold and Decaf also shift into refreshed packs, and the cartons remain recyclable while the bags stay plant-based and compostable.
A £1.5 million campaign behind unchanged RRPs turns the blend change into a stronger retail event, giving stores a clearer reason to spotlight a familiar tea brand. In a market where black tea still fills eight in 10 cups, the added leaf weight and new packs turn value and visibility into one retail pitch.
