Shimmering Rotating Art Timepieces

Ulysse Nardin Presents the reak [X Crystalium] Design

Ulysse Nardin unveils the Freak [X Crystalium] as an ambitious fusion of mechanical horology and material artistry, debuting it at Geneva Watch Days. This limited-edition timepiece, capped at just 50 units, features a rotating hour disc made from Crystalium, a ruthenium-derived material with naturally formed crystalline patterns created through a controlled vapor deposition process. Each disc is unique, then finished with rose gold PVD coating and hand-applied black lacquer for dramatic depth. The watch maintains the signature flying carousel movement of the Freak line, powered by the in-house automatic UN-230 caliber with a silicon escapement and balance, and housed in a matte black DLC-coated titanium case.

The design highlights both precision and spectacle. The carousel bridge acts as the minute hand while the Crystalium disc completes a 12-hour rotation, producing a striking interplay of movement and texture. Mounted on a ballistic-textured rubber strap, the Freak X Crystalium represents the meeting point of technical daring and artistic expression in modern watchmaking.
