Modular Laptop Company Framework is Offering an SFF PC

Framework has introduced its first desktop PC, the Framework Desktop, which emphasizes modularity, upgradeability, and repairability. This new product is built around AMD's Ryzen AI Max processors, known for their impressive performance. The Framework Desktop features a mini-ITX mainboard, which includes ATX headers, a PCIe x4 slot, and a variety of rear I/O options such as dual USB4 ports, two DisplayPort outputs, HDMI, and 5 Gigabit Ethernet. The system also supports up to 16TB of storage through two PCIe NVME M.2 slots and comes with a semi-custom 400W power supply. The desktop is designed to be user-friendly, allowing consumers to bring their own storage drives and operating system, with official support for Windows 11 and various Linux distributions.

The Framework Desktop is available in different configurations, with the base model featuring the AMD Ryzen AI Max 385 and 32GB of RAM, while the top-end version includes the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 and 128GB of RAM. The desktop's front panel is customizable with 21 interchangeable plastic tiles, allowing users to personalize their device. Despite its compact size, the Framework Desktop offers significant processing and graphics power, making it suitable for gaming and local AI inference. Pre-orders for the Framework Desktop are now open, with shipments expected to begin in early Q3 of 2025.
