The street furniture brand Vestre and designer Emma Olbers partnered to design this fossil-free steel bench. Named 'Telus,' this seating solution "was made without creating carbon emissions" and because of this, it has vast implications for the future of sustainable design. The bench itself was forged by the Swedish steelmaker SSAB who utilizes green hydrogen instead of coal in the manufacturing process.
Vestre claims to be the " first furniture manufacturer in the world to use the fossil-free steel" while Emma Olbers notes that the designers aimed to be sustainable in all aspects and used "as little material as possible" to make Tellus. The fossil-free steel bench, which is quite minimalist in its design, is intended to be placed in parks and other public spaces.
