As far as floating tables go, the Empathy Table is a pretty interesting design. Most floating tables are either imaginary or suspended from the ceiling. However, the Empathy Table not only provides a space for congregation, eating and drinking, but it also promotes empathy among those at the table. How, you ask? Just look at the design.
First of all, the table rests on your legs if they are crossed the right way. That means if one person gets upset and stands up quickly, the table will fall. Additionally, if one person starts shifting in their seat it will be immediately apparent to the other person at the table.
The surface of the Empathy Table also features small grooves designed to fit your arm and elbow.
