Fall-Detecting Airbag Belts

ActiveProtective's Tango Belt Deploys Airbags Before Fall Impact

ActiveProtective has developed fall-detecting airbag belts that provide immediate hip protection for older adults at elevated risk of serious injuries. Its Tango Belt uses three-dimensional motion sensors and specialized algorithms to recognize dangerous falls before impact. Unlike conventional fall prevention approaches, the wearable device automatically inflates protective airbags, helping reduce the force placed on the hips during an accident.

The FDA-authorized prescription device deploys its airbags in less than 90 milliseconds when a potentially harmful fall is detected. Clinical research demonstrated a 91% relative reduction in major hip injuries compared with standard care alone. The device also earned recognition on TIME's Best Inventions 2026 list.

This technology creates opportunities for ActiveProtective within the senior healthcare market by addressing injuries that traditional fall prevention measures cannot always avoid. Expanding patient access could also support wider adoption of protective wearable medical devices.
