The EXP-R model focuses exclusively on handheld gaming, featuring a charcoal grey design with turquoise accents on the Menu, Start, and Select buttons, as well as the power button. It includes WiFi for firmware updates and a TATE button for playing vertical games with an accurate screen ratio. The console has a new textured grip for enhanced comfort during extended play sessions. However, it omits the Mini-HDMI out present in the previous model, emphasizing its handheld-only use.

The console will be bundled with a USB-C charging cable and one Evercade cartridge collection, which will utilize the new Giga Cart format.
