The Empa Bulletproof Vest with Coolpad not only protects those in the line of fire from taking a shot to the chest, but also prevents them from overheating while doing so.
Keeping cool under pressure is difficult enough as it is, never mind when sporting a hot and heavy ballistic vest. Swiss designer Empa created the air-conditioned vest to keep police officials from overheating while on duty. Under the outer lining of the vest rests the main cooling agent, which is a thin pouch that is lined with water. The pouch is permeable so the water slowly evaporates through and cools the air, and the person wearing the vest, as it does so.
To circulate this chilled air even better, a miniature fan is attached to the vest to keep keep that crisp breeze moving.
