El Paso Animal Services has unveiled a new technology that makes reuniting lost pets with their owners much easier. In partnership with 24Pet, El Paso has launched the ‘24Pet Reunite Site,’ a solar-powered microchip scanner that currently operates at Salvador Rivas Jr. Park. Using microchip information, community members and veterinarians can see a dog’s microchip number, and find out where to get their pet microchipped if they are not already.
By using a QR code on the ‘Reunite Site,’ users will be instructed on how to check for microchips. Best Friends Animal Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to animal welfare, is helping to fund the ‘Reunite Site’ and is working with El Paso Animal Services to install more scanners in the city.
