Europe's First Eco Mosque Will be Built in Cambridge

Designer Marks Barfield has designed Europe's first eco-friendly mosque that will be safe, secure and sustainable. The entire project will cost around £13 million and the mosque will be built on a 0.4 hectare brownfield.

The proposed mosque will be able to accomodate upto 1,000 people and there will be a café, teaching area. There will also be meeting rooms available for both Muslims and non-Muslims.

Inspired from ‘the Garden of paradise’ and water, the eco mosque will feature a green roof, an energy efficient cooling system and a specially built heating system powered by ground source heat pumps.
