Drugstore Collectible Finds

CVS Pharmacy Adds Pokémon Cards and Beauty Tie-Ins

CVS Pharmacy is expanding its fall assortment with collectibles, beauty tie-ins, snacks and seasonal items for store shoppers seeking something unexpected on a pharmacy trip. Rolling out this fall, the mix adds exclusive and limited-run products such as Joyward Halloween Squishes at participating CVS Pharmacy stores and through the retailer's online store.

Pokémon trading cards give the assortment a collectible anchor within the broader beauty, snack and seasonal push. In the first quarter, Circana put toy purchases by adults 18 and older at $1.8 billion. It also found spending was 12% above the prior year, making adults the biggest age group for toy spending.

Availability at participating CVS Pharmacy stores and the retailer's online store turns limited-run goods into an add-on to routine pharmacy purchases. Frequent refreshes widen CVS's impulse business by placing collectibles in a drugstore setting as adults stay the biggest toy-buying age group in Circana's data.
