Book-Based Perfumes

Die Hot with a Vengeance Was Inspired by Sable Yong's Book of Essays

To pair with Die Hot with a Vengeance, an essay collection on beauty, identity and cultural acceptance, Sable Yong collaborated with Hoax Parfum to create a scent of the same name.

Described as a warm, spicy gourmand leather, Die Hot With a Vengeance was inspired by a "rich, evil woman's Birkin bag" with notes of vanilla, amber, patchouli and a touch of plum to accent orris, a note often linked to the smell of vintage cosmetics. "I envision people wearing it every day, hopefully. I set out to make an evergreen scent that is appropriate any time of day or night or season," Yong told Highsnobiety.

The scent based on the book was created with a mood board that included images of film noir femme fatales, 70s and 80s beauty and makeup, and dark, rich jewel tones.
