As Star Wars mania continues to bloom, Y Studios has joined in on the fun with its Design x Saber initiative. Centered around the iconic lightsaber, this creative project re-imagines the legendary weapon in the aesthetics of famous designers.
While nothing is wrong with the original lightsaber look, the Design x Saber project gives designers like Charles & Ray, Dieter Rams, Edith Heath, Issey Miyake and Zaha Hadid a hand at creating their own version of the famed piece of battle gear. The original lightsaber is a weapon with a pure plasma blade which is usually blue or red in color, depending on who is wielding it.
Outfitted with abstract cutouts, samurai-esque detailing, walnut wood finishes and high gloss plastic, these new swords are good enough for their own film franchise.
