Amazon Announces the Launch of an Upgraded Version of Its 'Dash Cart'

E-commerce giant Amazon has recently announced that it will be expanding its physical smart carts -- i.e. the Amazon Dash Cart -- into Whole Foods Market locations throughout the United States. However, for the new expansion, the company has also stated that it will be upgrading the Dash Cart to make the experience even easier and more convenient.

The new Dash Cart will still include things such as real-time receipts and built-in produce scales. However, it will introduce a slew of new features. For example, the new carts will feature double the carrying capacity of the original models. They will also come equipped with a weather-resistant treatment, a built-in display highlighting closeby items, and an extended all-day battery life.

"As many of our customers return to their in-store grocery shopping routines, it's exciting to introduce new and unique ways for them to shop our stores," said Leandro Balbinot, chief technology officer for Whole Foods Market. "We're thrilled that the newest version of Dash Cart will debut in our Westford store and can't wait to hear the feedback from our customers there."
