Cultivated Beef Tastings

Mosa Meat Hosted a First-of-Its-Kind Tasting in the EU

Dutch startup Mosa Meat recently hosted a cultivated beef tasting at its test kitchen in Maastricht, marking the first time the public has had the chance to experience cultivated beef in the EU. In 2023, the Dutch government established a Code of Practice, which paved the way for startups to conduct tastings of cultivated meat and seafood before approval for sale in the EU.

At the first-of-its-kind tasting event, members of the public got to experience hybrid beef patties from Mosa Meat, made with cultivated beef fat and a custom plant-based mix made in-house by Mosa Meat’s product development team. Together, these ingredients deliver the flavor, aroma and mouthfeel that people expect from conventional beef.

From this tasting, Mosa Meat collected insights and gathered data on the product's readiness for the market.
