Virus Gullibility

If Conficker Worm is Not An April Fool's Hoax, 15 Million PCs Could be Inf

The Conficker Worm could be the worst virus ever to infect your computer, or it could be one of the worst ever April Fool’s jokes.

The Conficker Worm is a virus said to have infected over 15 million Windows computers around the world, its takeover effects programmed to begin today, April 1st.

“Conficker attacks computers running Microsoft Corp.‘s Windows XP or Vista operating systems,” Boston.com says. “Conficker is made possible by a security flaw in the Windows software that allows an infected machine to spread the worm to other Windows computers through the Internet. Microsoft issued a fix for the problem months ago, but millions haven’t installed it. Conficker can also be spread by infected removable disks or USB drives.”

The only thing we can suggest is to brace yourself and prepare for the worst, assuming you PC does have the Conficker Worm. Worse than being the fool on this day of pranks is being a fool without a computer (how would you get your Trend Hunter fix?), so make sure your virus protection is up to date!
