In order to make the experience of ordering a drink with self-service machine more of an engaging experience, Costa Coffee designed a multi-sensory coffee machine. This machine is known by the name 'Marlow' and activates all of the five senses.
When approaching the machine, people are able to hear the sounds of a bustling coffee shop and see others enjoying drinks on a 27-inch interactive touchscreen. To deepen the experience before a coffee is served from the machine, Marlow also releases scents that coffee lovers will enjoy.
Rather than being a one-dimensional self-serve coffee machine, this one makes the experience of getting a coffee a treat for all the senses, even before a patron has the chance to receive a cup of hot coffee themselves.
