Pre-Primary School Extensions

andblack design studio Creates the Cocoon Extension

andblack design studio has taken on the design project of adding the Cocoon Extension at the Bloomingdale International School. This is a school located in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, India, and the extension measures 4,000 square feet. It is developed as a separate unit from the main school building with an unconventional structure. The space is defined by its sunken courtyard which reflects the area and the natural landscape.

It flows naturally towards the structure like a hill and boasts versatility in terms of its function. It can be used as a classroom, a playground, or an amphitheater. The project means to create a connected boundary between the indoor and outdoor spaces for an engaging learning environment.
