The ‘Clique’ series by stylist Steph Ashmore and Dawn DiCarlo is a throw back to the teenage heart throb. Shot for the 20th issue of the Ones2Watch, the editorial is well suited for the ‘coming of age’ theme. Each portrait explores the character of a queen teen from each cliche click. From drama club kid to prude prepster to punkass chick, not one stereotype is left untouched.

The styling and artistic direction of the series is brilliant. The props used create a subtle scene, but it’s the models’ expressions that allow the narrative such depth. Though each character holds a feminine strength, teenage angst and vulnerability shines through. The shots are taken like yearbook photos, with plain back drops and glamor-shot lighting.
