Apple is expanding access to clinical-grade hearing earbuds in Canada by introducing hearing assessments and personalized audio assistance through AirPods Pro. The Hearing Test feature allows users to evaluate their hearing at home, while the Hearing Aid capability supports individuals experiencing mild to moderate hearing loss in permitted provinces.
Available on AirPods Pro 2 and 3, the five-minute assessment measures hearing levels and stores results in the Health app. Users can then apply their hearing profiles to amplify surrounding sounds and customize audio during conversations, calls, and entertainment. Hearing Aid functionality is currently available in five Canadian provinces.
For Apple, the expansion strengthens AirPods Pro's position as a multifunctional health and entertainment device. Canadian consumers gain convenient access to hearing assessments, while the integration of hearing assistance into familiar earbuds creates additional opportunities for everyday use.
