Pastel Bead Installations

Cj Hendry Pastel Transforms a Gallery into a Bead Pit

Cj Hendry Pastel fills the ground floor of Salon 94 Design with an immersive installation containing roughly one million pastel plastic beads. Measuring approximately 20 by 30 feet and more than two feet deep, the space invites visitors to walk through the beads, search for shaped pieces, and assemble bracelets or necklaces. Beads include unicorns, rocking horses, shrimp, skulls, lips, and sneakers, reflecting recurring motifs from the artist's work. Visitors receive branded socks before entering the installation, while individual beads are available for $1 each or $50 for a canister of 75.

The exhibition was inspired by a children's beading room at Brooklyn's Space Club, where tactile interaction became the foundation for the expanded installation. Photorealistic drawings and sculptures are displayed on the gallery's upper floor alongside the interactive experience. The exhibition runs from August 6–16 at Salon 94 Design in New York City, with collectible edition prints featuring 24 drawings scheduled for release through the artist's website on August 9 at 7 p.m. ET.
