George Darouze, the city councillor representing Osgoode ward in the Canadian capital city of Ottawa, has launched his own name-branded smartphone app as part of an effort to engage with and inform his constituents.
The 'Osgoode Ward - for George Darouze' app, available for free download through both the iOS and Android platforms, offers a wealth of information including an interactive map of resources, an array of helpful links, an events calendar and information on how to reach Mr. Darouze. The app also allows users to sign up for important community news and hyper-local bulletins and updates.
Interestingly, the app also offers information to support the city councillor's policies, making this app both an intelligent way of engaging with the community as well as a potentially powerful re-election tool.
