Food blogger Bakerella showcases how versatile cake sponge is in her latest recipe that instructs consumers how to transform the dough into edible circus animal pops that are shaped like whimsical blue elephants. The cake pops go beyond the traditional rounded shape turning the edible dessert into a three dimensional elephant that is ideal for birthday parties and celebratory occasions.
The elephant cake pops are simple enough to make once the body of the animal is properly achieved. The cake pop is made using a rounded roll of cake dough topped with two candy wafers melted and adhered onto either side to form the ears. Then a peanut is attached using icing to replicate the trunk before dipping the entire pop in melted blue chocolate.
