A new charging road is set to make the lives of electric vehicle owners easier. Announced earlier this month, the city of Lund, Sweeden will be installing a new type of electric road for a street near the center.
The technology is developed by Elonroad. The charging road is envisioned to run for a kilometer-long stretch. The innovation will feature an electric rail that will connect with an attachment that can be easily inserted into an electric vehicle. The implications of convenience are evident here.
In addition to this, if things like charging roads were pushed as a standard, the batteries in cars can afford to be smaller. As observed by The Fast Company, this "would mean mining less lithium and other materials in a process that can pollute the environment."
