C.A.R.L. by David Ryle, a photographer based in New York City, is a photo series that revolves around a futuristic robot. Like a blind person who sees for the first time, Carl, as his name can safely be assumed, goes on a walkabout through vast fields and urban sprawls, all the while looking about itself in what can only be described as wonder. Although there are no facial features on its prismatic head to denote such an emotion, that is the feeling generated by each still.
Art directed by London-based Gem Fletcher, the C.A.R.L. by David Ryle photo series connects with people on various levels. While the context of the series is endearing, the images themselves are pretty breathtaking. Not to mention the design of the robot, courtesy of Studio Boo, is captivating.
