Microsoft Has Started Launching the Carbon Aware Function

Microsoft has begun launching its new Carbon Aware update for its Xbox consoles as of February. When the console is able to access the internet, users are able to set it to schedule a game, app, and other operating system updates that are dependent on the local carbon intensity statistics. In doing so, it may also assist with a more conscious approach to the electricity bill.

Now, all Xbox users will also have the company's 'Shutdown (energy saving) option.' When switching this on, it is able to cut down the console's power consumption by up to 20 times. Microsoft explains that “For every two consoles that switch to Shutdown (energy saving) for one year, we will save the equivalent amount of carbon removed by one tree planted and grown for a decade.”
