VSCO is bringing digital photography into physical public spaces through The Fifty, a nationwide project recognizing 50 working photographers, one from every U.S. state. Selected images will appear on billboards and large-format placements in photographers’ home states, with additional exposure through VSCO’s website and social channels. Each participant also receives an honorarium, a year of VSCO Pro, a portfolio review, and access to a professional workshop. The project drew more than 13,500 submissions through an open call.
The campaign shifts billboard space from conventional platform advertising toward promoting individual creators. For VSCO, this reinforces its relationship with professional photographers while demonstrating tangible career value beyond digital editing and portfolio tools. Local displays can also introduce photographers to potential clients in their own markets, creating business opportunities while strengthening VSCO’s creator-focused positioning.
