The Banksy Fallen Art Piece Centers Around a Shattered Roman Soldier
Meghan Young — December 23, 2011 — Art & Design
The Banksy Fallen sculpture seems to suggest that the ever-elusive street artist has internalized the giving mood perpetuated by the holiday season with the unveiling of yet another art piece. Hot on the heels of his most recent creation, Cardinal Sin, the Banksy Fallen sculpture may look just as simple, but it still carries a heavy message.
Through the Banksy Fallen sculpture, the socially and politically conscious artist appears to comment on many different things such as ushering in a new world order, ridding the old to welcome in the new and a criticism against classical art forms. The Banksy Fallen sculpture centers around a shattered marble sculpture of a Roman soldier alongside a modern and mundane yellow sign that reads "Caution, Wet Floor."
