A floating soccer ball installation is the contribution of Guatemala-based artist Darío Escobar to Reigning Champ's showroom in New York. The event exhibited the label's collection for Spring/Summer 2019 and the collaboration with the artist points to the evergrowing association between retail spaces and art.

The floating soccer ball installation is dubbed 'Obverse and Reverse XLI' and it is not only a daring and haunting arrangement of objects but it also offers a curious technical approach. For his piece, Darío Escobar turned 120 soccer balls inside out and "meticulously sew [them] back together." In a certain way, this rebellious act of deconstruction takes away the value from the object and allows the artist to rewrite its narrative.
