Wendy's recently began testing a warm, seasonal dish called the Bacon Maple Chicken Sandwich. With summer drawing to a close, brands are looking for new ways to add a seasonal touch to familiar dishes. This new dish puts a sugary twist on the traditional chicken sandwich with an unexpectedly sweet glaze.

The new Bacon Maple Chicken Sandwich consists of a tender chicken breast filet topped with maple butter, a sweet maple glaze, Asiago cheese and a piece of thick-cut Applewood smoked bacon. To give the dish a breakfast twist, the sandwich is served on a flaky croissant bun. The chain is currently promoting the new sandwich at locations in Illinois, Tennessee and Missouri with the enticing tagline: "Making Breakfast Jealous."

Instead of going the conventional pumpkin route, Wendy's new breakfast sandwich uses maple flavors to put a sweet, seasonal twist on a familiar dish.
