Lampix, an augmented reality light fixture created by two Romanian developers, can transform any flat surface into a touchscreen -- and it looks stylish too. While it looks just like a desk lamp, its shade hide far more than just a light source: it has two cameras, one HD projector, and a small computer to control them.
Scanning documents, recognizing objects, acting as an extension of your smartphone, and enabling collaboration and interaction with other Lampix users are just a few things it can already do, but thanks to its scalable API, its possibilities are endless. It could soon display movies, All Slots games, and basically anything else on your tabletop.
Lampix is already used by several companies, and allows others to register as beta testers or developers. There is no word about a possible commercial release yet.
