Using the colors of fall as inspiration, Marilyn Minter’s 'The Art of Beauty' editorial for V Magazine is a collage of dewy glam and blurred hues. Frida Assen is photographed with glowing green eye shadow and a pouty burgundy lip color.
Minter’s saturated hues blend together harmoniously, causing the model to melt into her surroundings. The inclusion of water droplets skews the photos, creating an image of Assen being closely photographed from behind a glass windowpane as she playfully enjoys the cool showers of the fall season. The model’s closed lids in The Art of Beauty set a soft and intimate tone for the editorial, giving off the idea that the viewer is a privileged voyeur, bearing witness to the procurement of beauty.
Make-up for the V Magazine editorial The Art of Beauty was done by James Kaliardos.
