On the official Gucci app, users can now try on AR luxury sneakers just by pointing a mobile device's camera at their feet. The augmented reality app's features were developed with Belarus-based start-up Wannaby, which builds "AR commerce” experiences.
The Gucci app now gives consumers the ability to virtually try on a pair of Gucci's coveted Ace sneakers and potentially even share the visuals on social media or text message if desired. With machine learning algorithms that calculate space, lighting and textures, consumers are able to experience a realistic representation of what it would be like to physically try on a pair of the luxury shoes. While luxury sneakers may only be purchased by some, the AR feature lets everyone indulge in the fantasy of seeing a pair on their own feet.
